Hun Manet Tasks CPP Youth with Building the Party

PHNOM PENH: Chief of the Cambodian People’s Party’s (CPP) youth division, General Hun Manet, outlined three priorities for young activists: maintaining the success established by the previous generation, expanding their own achievements which change things for the better, and working with older generations to build a strong foundation which can be transferred to the next generation.

Speaking at a meeting with leaders and professors of public higher education institutions at CPP headquarters on June 17, Gen. Hun Manet said party members must work together to implement their just cause and continue the party’s winning streak so that it can continue to carry the burden of serving the nation and its people. He added that while the party has built many great achievements, both past and present, it also has a long-term vision for the future.

He added that the CPP is not a perfect party, and that it has had to make constant reforms. The party aims to improve itself through a five-step process which he referred to as, “mirror (reflect), bathe (clean out), scrub, cure (disease) and surgery.” He said the party’s willingness to improve shows its commitment to serving the nation more responsibly.

He thanked all the leaders, professors and officials of all public higher education institutions in Phnom Penh who have made every effort to improve the quality of higher education. He appreciated the committees in all ministries and institutions that have performed their work consistently by strengthening and expanding education, as well as promoting party members to the ranks of professors, educators, teachers and students. He finished by acknowledging the crucial role the party's youth activists play by participating in the party's major campaigns and events.
